The transfer rumour mill is in full cycle at Sixfields with another ‘four or five’ players hoping to be added by boss Gary Johnson by the time the squad meets for pre-season training at the start of next month.
Ben Tozer has been mentioned by Johnson as one who he expects to be at the club again next season. The defender filled in as a defensive midfielder at the end of last season and scored the final Town goal of the season a Morecambe with a well taken half volley but on occasions looked out of depth in that role. If the Newcastle man does return then perhaps the better bet would be to bring him in back in his preferred centre back position.
Another to be strongly linked is Peterborough midfielder Arron Davies after Barry Fry was quoted in saying that Davies could be on his way to join Nana and former boss Johnson at the Cobblers.
And in a new development, it appears that Jake Robinson is also target after the midfielder found out on the Shrewsbury website that his time at the Geenhaus Meadow was over. Robinson spent the second half of last season at Torquay and helped them to the Playoff Final, beating his parent club along the way.
