Town miss out on Jombati

Reports down this way appear to indicate  that the Cobblers have been beaten to one of Gary Johnson’s summer transfer targets in former Bath City man Sido Jombati. Jombati was the City Player of the Year last season and joined Cheltenham Town instead of the Cobblers on advise from former Cheltenham midfielder Lee Howells who now works at Bath as assistant manager.

Speaking to the Gloucestershire Echo, Howells said, “Northampton wanted him (Jombati), but I rang Mark Yates up and told him this lad was worth a go. Mark was always aware of Sido and I’d rather he went to Cheltenham than Northampton.”

Jombati was highly thought of at Twerton Park and it seems like we’ve missed out with Cheltenham given a helping hand in bringing their man to Whaddon Road. Only time will tell as to whether we’ll be even more annoyed at Howells as the season goes on!
