Asante...Sixfields bound

The Cobblers have today signed young Birmingham City striker Akwasi Asante on a month’s loan. Asante made his first team début as a substitute in the Europa League this season but Chris Hughton has let him join Town to get him some more games. Asante was born in Amsterdam and came through the academy of Haarlem before moving to Birmingham at the age of thirteen. The highlight of his young career was scoring five goals in an Under 18s match with Tottenham in October of last year! Asante will not be available for the Swindon home game on Saturday but will be in the squad for the trip to Shrewsbury Town on Monday.

It’s been confirmed that Saido Berahino will stay with the Cobblers until the end of the season as well with the West Brom man’s deal now including a 24-hour call back stipulation.

Meanwhile, Aidy Boothroyd has welcomed the rescinding of John Johnson’s red card from Boxing Day but stated that he ‘doesn’t want a team of tarts.’ That got me thinking of a possible treat filled team from past Cobblers players. See if you can add any more to my early offerings of JAMes Hunt, Mark Bunn and Michael Jacobs Cracker. Jake HobNobinson is going too far…
