Thursday Headlines…

The Cobblers have completed a deal to sign Kelvin Langmead on a permanent deal this afternoon. Peterborough have agreed to let the defender go and that should at least give us some stability at the back, something that’s been severely lacking this season. I didn’t think I would ever say it but it’s actually decent news based on the last couple of games and a partnership with Ben Tozer is starting to bear a bit of fruit. Aidy clearly likes him so that’s enough for me and it’s another one on our books full time.

Going out the Sixfields door, though, is Mr red card himself Nick McKoy. The midfielder, signed by Gary Johnson, hasn’t impressed the Cobblers boss enough and having lined up another move in the transfer window has had his contract terminated.

Gary Johnson, meanwhile, has come out of hiding and put himself in the running for the newly vacant manager’s position at Bristol Rovers. Johnson, before his misdemeanors at Sixfields, was of course an ex boss of the Gas’ city rivals Bristol City and is apparently one of the front runners for the job. Thanks to @johnverrall, a Peterborough United fan on Twitter, who pointed out that Johnson is still attempting to fulfill his season’s wishes of keeping Northampton Town in the league!

League Two Transfer Window Latest…

Nick Chadwick has completed his permanent move back to Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer from Stockport County. Chadwick has been on loan with the Pilgrims and scored in their 4-1 win over the Cobblers back in November. The Pilgrims have also finalised a deal to bring in Darren Purse on a permanent contract after a successful loan from Millwall.

Southend United have snapped up Derby County midfielder David Martin and Michael Timlin for undisclosed fees. The Shrimpers have already added striker Elliot Benyon this month after the former Torquay man signed from Swindon Town.

Burton Albion are close to tying up a one month loan deal with West Ham defender Callum Driver.

And Accrington Stanley have brought in Everton’s Aristotle Nsiala on loan until the middle of February. Nsiala played in League Two for Macclesfield Town last season, making thirteen appearances.
