Jason Crowe has signed a new deal with the Cobblers to see him through until the end of the season. Crowe’s second spell with the Cobblers has been up and down but that at least gives us a bit of stability in a back four that a few weeks ago were rocking. The fact that we now have a base of a defence with Crowe, Tozer, Langmead and Blair Adams is a positive sign. I’ve said before how in most memorable Town sides over the years you can name at least a back five that were always in place give or take a couple of games and now all we need is a keeper to plug the hole left by Shane Higg’s nasty injury that’s going to keep him out until the end of the season at the very least.
The Cobblers were involved in a behind closed doors friendly with a Wolves development squad earlier this week and were narrowly beaten 3-2. More importantly, Ryan Gilligan and Byron Webster stepped up their respective comeback bids with Gilligan laying on the first Town goal for Bayo Akinfenwa and Webster adding the second late in the game.
Swindon boss Paulo Di Canio has been banned for one match following his celebrations at the end of the Robin’s 2-1 win at Sixfields. Not that it will hurt the pockets of the Italien but he’s also been charged £500.
League Two Transfer Window Update…
AFC Wimbledon continue to be busy during the window and they’ve brought in Jason Euell on loan from Charlton Athletic. Euell was a trainee with the original Crazy Gang early in his career and progressed through the ranks to net 47 goals for the club. Byron Harrison has also joined the Wombles for an undisclosed fee that has apparently broken their transfer record.
Bradford City have signed up former Sheffield United defender Rob Kozluk on a short term deal until the end of the season.
Josh Payne has crossed League Two clubs to join Aldershot Town from Oxford United on an initial one month deal.
Meanwhile, Southend United have added Bolton Wanderers striker Jack Sampson on a month’s loan ahead of their trip to Sixfields on Saturday afternoon. Sampson has recently signed a new deal at the Reebok.
And Gavin Tomlin has joined Gillingham from League One side Dagenham and Redbridge until the end of the season after he made an impression on Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler whilst playing for Torquay United last season.
