Weale Deal for Town ahead of Barnet clash

Weale...loan move

It looks like we’ll have a new keeper in between the sticks this afternoon as Chris Weale signed up on a one month loan deal yesterday. The deal was being held off until Weale’s club, Leicester City, got through their FA Cup replay against Nottingham Forest in the week but it was done in time for today’s game with Barnet in a massive bottom of the table clash.

Freddy Hall has taken the gloves for the last couple of games but Weale is odds on favourite to beat him to the first team place for this one. At 29 he has a decent pedigree having made close to 250 appearances in spells with Yeovil Town, Bristol City, Hereford and Leicester. He’s made 77 appearances for the Foxes so far since joining them in 2009.

Aidy Boothroyd said that he has potentially signed “the best goalkeeper in the division” so it should mean Weale is granted a home debut today. There could also be a recall for Bayo Akinfenwa in place of Akwasi Asante up front but other than that it should be a fairly familiar side for the biggest game of the season so far!
