Doig...Cobblers return?

Chris Doig is the latest former Cobbler linked to a return this season as he currently goes through a trial spell at Sixfields. With Bayo and Jason Crowe already in the ranks it could be like 2008 all over again very soon! The 30-Year-Old spent some time at Aldershot earlier this season but is now trying to get back in at his old stomping ground. I said at the time of his Aldershot signing that I would have taken him and that’s not changed. Though he will probably lack pace the organisational side of his game along with the passion that led us to decent heights in League One certainly won’t go amiss!

Meanwhile, the two Austrian players brought in by Gary Johnson in the summer, Lumbardh Salihu and Marin Pzgain have had their contracts terminated by the club. No real surprise there as the squad continues to be cut down by Aidy Boothroyd with a busy final few days of the transfer window expected.

League Two Transfer Window Update…

Hereford United have bolstered their ranks ahead of the closing of the transfer window by bringing in ex Oxford United right back Ben Purkiss on a free transfer that will see the defender stay at Edgar Street until the end of the season.

Hull City midfielder Will Atkinson has moved to Bradford City on loan until the end of the season with a view to the deal becoming permanent come the summer.

Another Championship to League Two loan move is that of Crystal Palace’s Kieron Cadogan who has signed for Rotherham United until the end of the season. Goalkeeper Rhys Taylor has also extended his loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.

Burton Albion have moved to bring in Swansea City’s Wales Under-21 international midfielder Lee Lucas until the end of the season.

And Crawley Town have strengthened their chances of promotion by signing Arsenal striker Sanchez Watt on loan. Watt has spent time at Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday already this season.
