Guttridge Returns!

Guttridge...back at Sixfields

The Cobblers’ reunion season goes on as it was announced this morning that Luke Guttridge has rejoined the club after having his contract terminated by Aldershot Town yesterday. Dean Holdsworth, the Aldershot manager, said that the player, who played over 50 times for the Cobblers between 2008 and 2010 “has not been a happy and motivated player recently.” I’m hoping that it’s more about the club he was at and that he can recapture some of his better moments with the Cobblers in the fight against relegation.

His Town career ended in disappointing style last time out as he was sent off in a game at Rotherham late in the 2009-10 season in which we were chasing down an unlikely playoff place. That, to many, was the game where those hopes faded and Guttridge would go on to sit out the majority of the season from then on in. So perhaps some unfinished business?

At 29, Guttridge has it in him still I’m sure and with an 18 month contract now signed there’s big trust and backing from the Cobblers boss. So now that’s Jason Crowe, Bayo Akinfenwa, Ashley Westwood and Luke Guttridge who have returned to Sixfields already this season and with Chris Doig on the way it begs the question of who will be next?

Aidy, get on your phone to Larry and Big John!
