Deadline Day: Summer 2013…Part Two…

Heath...extended stay at Sixfields

Heath…extended stay at Sixfields

3:30pm

“I’m quite happy with the targets that we’ve got, I think it’s clear that we do need another centre half but I’m quite happy everywhere else. We have a target in mind and it might take a week or two for something to happen.”

A quote from Aidy Boothroyd as he sets his sights firmly on life away from the transfer deadline day and shoots us all a message that it’s probably going to be a good old fashioned quiet day in the Sixfields office. It looks like a centre back is on the way but with Boothroyd’s update it sounds as if it’s a loan or free transfer that will come in once the window is shut.

One trickle of news is that Matt Heath has signed an extended deal to stay with the club until January. I’d actually forgotten that he was still on non-contract terms so my response was a nice reserved little “oh” … it may not get better than that heady height today unfortunately!

Elsewhere in League Two…

Hamza Bencherif has signed a short term deal with Plymouth Arygle after a short trial spell at Home Park. The Algerian was released by Notts County at the end of last season and counts Macclesfield Town, Lincoln City and Nottingham Forest as his other previous clubs.

Bury have signed veteran keeper Brian Jenson who was released by Burnley after over 300 appearances this summer and who was training with the Shakers during the summer.
